Property Tax
Property tax is an ad valorem tax (based on value) imposed on real property (land and permanently attached improvements, such as buildings) and tangible personal property (movable property). Proposition 13 adopted by the California voters in 1978 created a comprehensive system for the assessment and limitation of real property taxes to 1% of a property's assessed value, plus any rates imposed to fund indebtedness imposed by the voters. The City of Dixon receives about 15.4 cents for every $ paid in ad valorem property taxes.
