About the Dixon Fire Department


Welcome to the Dixon Fire Department. Established in 1871, the department has grown to the needs of the community. The department operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We cover a city area of 6.7 sq. miles as well as the Dixon Fire Protection District area of 313 sq. miles serving a combined population of nearly 25,000 residents. The combination department is manned by 21 career and 3 volunteer/reserve personnel working a 48/96 hour rotation schedule. The department's administration consists of 1 chief, 1 deputy chief, 3 battalion chiefs and 2 administrative personnel. In 2023, the Dixon Fire Department responded to 2,970 calls for service.
