Dixon's 19-20 Adopted Budget Available Online

Adopt Budget 19-20

Dixon operates on a fiscal year which started July 1.  The City Council adopted this year's budget in June via Resolution 19-103.  This year's budget includes $44.40 million in revenues and appropriations of $45.18 million for all funds.

The key fund for the City is the General Fund paying for operations such as public safety services (police and fire), public works, parks and recreation and general government services.  This year's budget includes $21.598 million in revenue and $22.958 million in appropriations in the General Fund.  There are over $2.7 million in one-time expenditures approved for purchase in the budget that includes vehicles like a replacement fire engine and needed equipment to outfit, a motorcycle for the Police Department and improvements to the gazebos at both Northwest Park and Hall Park.

There is a wealth of information contained within the budget document including a new summary section in the budget message "Where the Money Comes From" and "Where the Money Goes".  Police and Fire represent 48% of General Fund resources budgeted.  While the budget adoption process is a very public process with a study session in May and approval in June, behind the scenes work is done by every department in the City, reviewing reports monthly and then presenting the Council a mid-year update on where things stand which will take place early in 2020.
