Sewer System Management Plan (SSMP)

Sewer System Management Plan (SSMP)

On December 6, 2022, the State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB) adopted Water Quality Order No. 2022-0103-DWQ (General Order), which required all municipalities that own and/or operate a wastewater collection system in California, greater than one mile in length, to be regulated under the General Order. The General Order, effective June 5, 2023,  requires municipality-owned and operated wastewater collection systems to develop a Sewer System Management Plan (SSMP) for their wastewater collection systems to help protect public health, the waters of the State, and the environment. Although this SSMP is for internal use by city staff, the existing SSMP is available to the public here.
