Disaster Types

Earthquake - Earthquakes are common in California and areas can be significantly impacted over great distances. In 1892 an earthquake damaged the towns of Winters and Dixon.

Flood - With its many low lying areas and waterways, significant rainfall, thunderstorms, and excessive snowmelt can trigger floods in our area.

Hazardous material - Dixon has major freeways, a busy rail line, and several industrial centers, all containing the potential for a hazardous material incident.

Heat - In the summer months, temperatures in our area can soar above 100 degrees for several days in a row.

Household chemical - Household chemicals found in just about any home, spills, and incorrect mixtures can be very toxic.

Terrorism - In today's day and age, we must constantly be aware of terrorist events, both internationally and domestic alike.

Thunderstorm - Thunderstorms do occur in the area primarily in the spring and fall.

Tornado - While not common, there have been tornadoes reported in our area.

Wildfire - During the hot and dry season, small fires can quickly erupt into fast moving wildfires burning over several acres.
