Dixon Police Department Responds to Suspicious Package on I-80

The Dixon Police Department would like to inform residents that a cleaning crew with Cal Trans located what they believed to be a suspicious package near the freeway right of way on I-80 near North Lincoln in Dixon, California. Dixon Police and the California Highway Patrol (CHP) immediately responded and secured the area.

As a precautionary measure, a CHP Bomb Squad was requested and arrived to render the object safe. The investigation into the composition of the device and its origins is ongoing. However, there was no direct threat to the public, and there is no ongoing threat to motorists or public safety.

The traffic has fully re-opened, and the Dixon Police Department would like to thank the CHP and Cal Trans for their quick response and collaboration in handling the situation.
